Emerson Nay Bentley, 87, Mooresville, died June 20, 2011. Mr. Bentley was born September 7, 1923, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to the late Ralph Waldo Emerson and Carrie Nadine (Durham) Bentley.
He graduated from Pimento High School, the Indiana State Teacher’s College and from the former Rose Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Bentley worked early on for Indianapolis Power & Light, Garns & Moore, and the City of Indianapolis. He worked for many years at Huntington Wade & Associates and later Thompson Construction. He was a Life Master of the American Contract Bridge Association, the National Society of Professional Engineers and a former member of the Elks Lodge in Plainfield. Mr. Bentley was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Valda (Stogsdill) Bentley; children, Ted Alan Bentley (Susan) of Pittsburg, B. Joe Bentley (Susan) of Plainfield, Sue Ann Roe (Gene) of Martinsville, Debra Hendrickson (Rick) of Mooresville, and Brad Bentley (Lisa) of Speedway; ten grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon, Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 10 a.m. The graveside service will follow on Saturday at 3 p.m., in New Harmony Cemetery, Terre Haute. Memorial contributions may be made to the Regional Cancer Center c/o Morgan Hospital Foundation or to the American Heart Association.
