Emma Jean Stinson, 87, Martinsville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2013. Mrs. Stinson was born November 19, 1925, to the late George and Bessie (Peggs) Adams.
She attended Arsenal Technical High School and worked for a period of time for the Indianapolis Parks Department as the director of Riley Park. In addition, she worked for Herff Jones for five years. Mrs. Stinson attended Waverly Baptist Church. A proud homemaker, she was a loving and caring wife and mother. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vestal Harold Stinson; daughter, Millie Grayson; grandson, Steven M. Stinson; son-in-law, Ervin Whitaker; brother, George Adams; sisters, Bessie Ellis, Louise Jordan, and Margaret Penn.
Survivors include her sons, Harold Stinson (Millie) of Greenwood, Michael Stinson (Karen) of Stilesville, Steven Stinson (Connie) of Martinsville, and Jeffrey Stinson (Marie) of Monrovia; daughters, Vickie Brennan of Indianapolis, and Suzan Whitaker of Martinsville; sister, Mary Cannon (Bob) of Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in the Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013.
