Ernest L. Powell

Ernest L. Powell, 77, Mooresville, died May 7, 2011, in the Emergency Room at Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg. Mr. Powell was born July 23, 1933, in Yamacraw, Kentucky, to the late Roy and Martha Powell.

Mr. Powell worked at Farm Bureau Co-Op for 38 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed tinkering with and fixing radios, televisions, and other electronics. He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sarah Louise (Payne) Powell; son, Billy J. Powell; daughter, Kathy Stogsdill.

Survivors include his sons, Ernie Powell of Mooresville and Tim Powell of Plainfield; daughters, Sandra White of Indianapolis, Diane Mason of Martinsville, and Glenna VanBlaricum of Plainfield; siblings, Ralph, Donald, Ona Lee, Lois Ann, Joyce, Violet, and Lorene; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
