Evelyn Louise Griffith

Evelyn Louise Griffith, 93, of Indianapolis, passed away July 15, 2021, at Franciscan Health, Mooresville. Evelyn was born June 29, 1928, in Brooklyn, to the late Walter and Jessie (Poe) Rike.

Evelyn had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Highland Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Griffith enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher. She mastered multiple jobs through her long life such as doing taxes, pharmacy, and her and her husband, Chester Vearl Griffith, ran Griffith Upholstery. Evelyn was also a member of the Red Hats Society. She taught herself how to play the piano. She enjoyed bowling and was a professional seamstress. Evelyn loved and adored her family dearly, and she will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by loving husband, Chester Vearl Griffith; great grandson, Trey Meriweather; siblings, Leonard Rike, Ethel Rike, Effie Mitchell, Lillian Hacker, and Mildred Combs.

Survivors include her children, Lila Lee Lee and Terry Allen (Gidget) Griffith; 16 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great - great grandchildren.

Evelyn's Life Celebration® visitation will be held at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High St., Mooresville. Visitation will be Saturday, July 24, 2021, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., following will be a procession to Brooklyn Cemetery for a graveside service. Burial at Brooklyn Cemetery, Brooklyn, Indiana.
