Evelyn Irene (Soots) Morgan

Evelyn Irene (Soots) Morgan, 96, passed away peacefully January 27, 2023, at Worthington Place.  Mrs. Morgan was born August 7, 1926, in Clearspring, Indiana, to the late Walter and Ida (Alexander) Soots.  She was married to Wayne Morgan, and he preceded her in death. 

Evelyn graduated from Clearspring High School.  She was a proud homemaker and farmer’s wife through the years.  She loved the farm, driving the tractor, caring for baby animals, and always making sure there was a wonderful meal on the table.  Some of the family favorites were persimmon pudding and what Evelyn called cherry dope.  She had a talented green thumb and always enjoyed caring for her houseplants and loved to work puzzles.  Above all, Evelyn was strongly devoted to her family.  She will be remembered for her loving and very generous spirit.  She was a member of Town Center Church in Mooresville. 

In addition to her parents and Wayne, she was preceded in death by a son, Garris Morgan; brothers, John and Orval Soots; sisters, Sylvia Soots and Mary Bell Soots. 

Survivors include one son, Richard (Glenda) Morgan; daughter-in-law, Marilyn; grandchildren, Erica (Danne) Sheets, Christy Morgan, Julie Morgan-Whittemore, and Mike (Jessica) Morgan; 4 great grandchildren. 

Friends and family will gather Sunday, January 29, 2023, 2 to 5 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.  The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2023, at the funeral home.  Burial and committal will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, in the Liberty Christian Church Cemetery, Norman, Indiana.  Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
