Everett F. “Pappy” Hendren
94 of Mooresville, passed away on March 10, 2022, at the Springs of Mooresville. Pappy was born on January 15, 1928 in Lincoln City, Indiana to the late Everett R. Hendren and Alberta (VanWinkle) Hendren.
Pappy grew up in Spencer County and graduated from Gentryville High School. He was a truck driver for Yellow Freight for many years, where he was known by his CB handle of “Whipperwill”. He retired in 1987. However, Pappy wasn’t one to sit still too long. He then worked as a custodian and maintenance for the Mooresville School System, where he was well known and respected. He then worked as a parts delivery man for Speedway Auto Parts, until he was forced to retire at the young age of 85.
Faith and family were the corner stones of his life. When Pappy and his wife, Sarah moved to Morgan County in 1971, they became members of the Gasburg Baptist Church in Monrovia, where he served as Deacon and helped build the church that stands today. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. He was also a proud Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association and the Monrovia Masonic Lodge #654.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah P. Hendren; sons Paul Kingsbury, Ron Kingsbury, a daughter Susan K. Brooks, brothers Louis Hendren, Allen Hendren, Larry Hendren, a granddaughter Stephanie Frye, great grandchildren Jennifer Kingsbury and Logan Kingsbury.
He is survived by his brother Danny Hendren, grandchildren Jeff (Stacy) Kingsbury, Scott (Kim) Brooks, Cindy Staser, Ronnie Kingsbury, Kimberly Kingsbury, 12 great grandchildren, 19 great- great grandchildren, son in law Larry (Deborah) Brooks and daughter in law Cathy Kingsbury.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Pappy’s life on Friday, March 18th from 1-2pm at the Gasburg Baptist Church, with a service at 2pm Friday in the church. Burial will follow the services in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall, Indiana.
