Fred Dillon, 82, lifelong Monrovia resident, died December 9, 2015, in Methodist Hospital. Mr. Dillon was born February 15, 1933, in Morgan County to the late Lane and Inez (McCracken) Dillon. He married Mary Alice (Parks) Dillon on December 12, 1953; she preceded him in death on June 27, 2012.
Mr. Dillon graduated from Monrovia High School in 1951. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and also served as a past commander of the Monrovia American Legion. A hardworking man, Mr. Dillon was a longtime farmer. He was a member of Monrovia Christian Church and an avid IU basketball fan. In addition to being a true family man, Fred enjoyed participating in rodeo, coon hunting, and was well known for his ponies. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Dillon and one sister, Rosamond Carter.
Survivors include his children, Kevin Dillon (Teresa) of Plainfield, Kathy Richardson (Mike) of Mooresville, and Kyle Dillon (Lorie) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Bradley Dillon, Katie Dillon, Andrea Richardson, Josh Richardson, Terah Adams, Ty Dillon, Tiffani Benson, and Trea Dillon; great grandchildren, Allison and Kaden; Cali and Kamber; Keegan, Jolie, Sophia and Chase; sister, Kay Horner (Richard “Dick”) of Mooresville.
Friends and family will gather Friday, December 11, 2015, 4 to 8 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Rev. Jack Elliott will officiate the 10 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, December 12, 2015, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Morgan County 4-H Council. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
