Indianapolis – Gary Allen Whitehead, 59, a loving brother, friend and mentor to so many, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022. Allen was born in Bell County, Kentucky, on May 7, 1962 to the late Fred and Bonnie Jean (Helton) Whitehead.
Allen grew up on the near west side of Indianapolis and graduated from Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana. Since 2015, Allen worked as a Manager at Sparkling Image Car Wash in Indianapolis.
Allen had a passion for cooking and loved to invite his family and friends to dinner. He was well loved by his coworkers and staff and was a mentor to junior employees, helping them in any way he could, even outside of work. Allen frequently traveled to Kentucky to spend time with his cousins. He also enjoyed spoiling his English Bulldog and watching him ride his skateboard.
Allen is survived by his dog Bentley, his sisters Darlene Whitehead Lawson and Evelean Dillon, his brother Ronnie Lee Whitehead, special cousins Tonya Halcomb Saylor, Tina Halcomb O'Daniel, and Carol Whitehead Hubbard, nieces Madison Lawson and Kayci (Jake) Lawson, and nephews Robert (Jennifer) Woodward, Ronnie Whitehead Jr, Jacob Whitehead and several grand nieces and nephews. He is also survived by close friends Philip Skorjanc, Ron Daugherty, Kurt Graybill, Greg Voshell, Tom Sizemore, Scott Palmer, Patrick McCool, Tony Newland, Randy McIntire, Coby Palmer along with his Charmwood group and so many more to mention.
Services are to be held April 9th, at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church at 418 East 34TH Street Indianapolis, Indiana 46205. The church may be reached at (317) 923-5458.
The reception will begin at 11 a.m. with the memorial service starting at 1 p.m. Please join us in celebrating Allen's life.
