Gene V. Myrick

Gene V. Myrick, 85, a lifelong Mooresville resident, passed from this life at The Springs of Mooresville on Friday, August 18, 2023.  He was born on May 21, 1938, at home to the late James William Edward Myrick and Beatrice Maine (Griffey) Myrick.

He graduated from Mooresville High School with the class of 1956.  Two years later, he married the love of his life, LaDonna Katherine Cullom, on June 29, 1958.  The two had enjoyed over 60 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on December 15, 2018.  He worked for the former Newcomer Lumber in Mooresville where he held many positions during his 35 years of service. 

Gene was a gifted craftsman and artist who completed countless projects.  One that many in the Mooresville Community still enjoy to this day is the steeple on the former Methodist Church which is now the Mooresville Government Center.  Additionally, he was a musician who enjoyed playing his banjo and piano.  He also enjoyed his time racing go-karts and coaching little league baseball and football.

 He will be fondly remembered by family and friends including his sons, Brad (Carol) Myrick of Mooresville and Brent (wife, Gwyn) Myrick of Mooresville; grandchildren, Justin (wife, Sarah) Myrick, Seth (wife, Abbey) Myrick, Kristen Myrick (Jordan Rounseville), Stephanie (husband, Daniel) Myrick-Dubois, and Sydney Myrick; and great grandchildren, Hunter Knight and Katherine Dubois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beatrice Myrick; brother, Delvin Myrick; and sister, Velsie Fisher

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Life Celebration® Home in Mooresville.  Gene’s Life Celebration® Service will begin at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the funeral home with an hour of visiting prior.  Following the service, he will be laid to rest alongside LaDonna in the Mooresville Cemetery.
