General H. “Bud” Calton, 87 of Camby, passed away while in rehab at Greenwood Meadows on October 6, 2015. He was born November 24, 1927 in Kings Creek, Kentucky to the late Culbert and Matilda (Fields) Calton.
Bud worked as a machine operator at Fairmont Glass Containers for 35 years; he retired in 1985. He was a member of Martinsville Life Church of God and a past member of Southwest Church of God in Indianapolis. A true outdoorsman, Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Bud is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lessie (Smith) Calton; his daughters, Debra Calton and Jewelene McGinnis; three brothers, Thomas Miles, Robert Calton and Benyard Calton; one sister, Lorraine Strunk and one granddaughter, Rachel Oliver.
He is survived by his five children, Larry (Wife: Mary) Calton of Indianapolis, Randell (Wife: Alice) Calton of Cloverdale, Ernestine (Husband: Arvine) Abrams of Greenwood, Anna (Husband: Kent) White of Camby, and Jenny (Husband: Keith) Hammons of Greenwood; three brothers, Cecil, James and Stephen Miles; two sisters, Wilma Jones and Janice Sue Tyree; 21 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday followed by burial at Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the March of Dimes.
