George Callies

George W. Callies, age 90, passed away on September 6th, 2022. Born in New York on May 10th, 1932, to his parents George and Dorothy Callies.

The dictionary definition of a salesman, George worked for Newton Manufacturing for several years while also operating as an independent contractor and salesman for many other companies including Tom O’Brien Chrysler. His sales pitches and speeches could be heard from down the hall across Indiana.

George, being from New York, was a life-long Yankees fan. He cheered for them along with Eli Manning and the NY Giants to every victory he could. George was a devout and faithful Catholic, serving as a lector for many years at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, where he was a very present parishioner.  George was also an active and proud member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was a member of the St. Thomas More Council #7431 and a Fourth Degree member of the Bishop Chatard Assembly.  

George was preceded in death by his parents George and Dorothy Callies, as well as his wife Betty Callies, son George W. Callies III, sister Diane A. Wilson, brother John Callies.

George is survived in life by his daughters Debbie Terry (Phillip) and Lisa Wingate; sons Michael S. Callies (Russo), David B. Pearison (Vicki), Bradley A. Pearison (Fonda); brother Michael Callies; as well as eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather to receive visitors at Carlisle Branson Funeral Home from 4-7 pm on September 13th, 2022. Funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1200 N. Indiana St. Mooresville, IN, the following day at 11 am on September 14th, 2022, with Father Jude presiding. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN on September 15th, 2022, at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the St. Thomas More Rosary Fund.
