George Laughman

March 31, 1934 — October 18, 2023

Plainfield

George Laughman, 89, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023, at home. He was born in Darke County, Ohio on March 31, 1934, to the late George Laughman and Hannah (Addis) Denney. George graduated from Gettysburg High School in Ohio in 1952 and earned his bachelor’s in engineering from DeVry University. He worked for over 40 years as an optical and electrical engineer for Frigidaire in Ohio, Bausch & Lomb in New York, and Webster Lens in Massachusetts.

George was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Centerton for 30 years. He thoroughly enjoyed being an elder and full-time minister of the congregation, studying the Bible, and supporting and encouraging other members. George also contributed to designing blueprints for hundreds of Kingdom Halls in the Midwest region.

In earlier years, George attained his pilot’s license and owned his own plane to visit out-of-state family members. He enjoyed traveling all over the country, camping, and riding his motorcycle with his wife, Annette. George was always a very positive person with a “get ‘er done” attitude. As George would always say, “Keep on keepin’ on”!

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his first wife, Doris (Miller) Laughman; and brother, Ralph Laughman. Survivors include his wife of 9 years, Annette (Leah) Laughman; sons, Brian (Brianna) Laughman, and Kerry (Kasey) Laughman; daughters, Lora Wetherbee and Melanie Teal; sisters, Sharon Linder and Karen Bingham; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Final arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
