80, of Brownsburg, formerly of Mooresville, passed away on September 2, 2023, at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville. George was born on November 26, 1942, in Johnson County, Indiana to the late Arthur and Esther Marie (Hehe) Ritter.
He was a 1961 graduate of Union Township High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years as an assistant Firing Chief in the LaCross Missile Unit at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He retired from General Motors Truck & Bus at Indianapolis on December 1, 2005, after 41 years.
George enjoyed traveling with his wife Nancy, all over the United States, especially to Hawaii and Florida in the winters. He also enjoyed staying active bowling, playing cards, cornhole, gardening or just simply spending time outdoors in nature. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, often playing practical jokes on his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Billy Ritter and a sister Dorothy Southard.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy (Wheeler) Ritter; 2 sisters Connie J. Huber (Glenn) of Franklin, IN, Martha A. Turner of Trafalgar, IN; a brother Richard E. Ritter (Becky) of Huffman, TX, and a host of extended family and friends who will dearly miss him.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate George’s life on Friday, September 8th from 11am-1pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with funeral services beginning at 1pm Friday in the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in I.O.O.F Cemetery, Waverly.
