George W. “Cowboy” Scott, Jr., 75, Wilbur, died June 26, 2014, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Scott was born May 16, 1939, in Broughton, Illinois, to the late George W. Scott and Grace (Ferris) Scott.
He graduated from Eldorado High School (IL) in 1957. Mr. Scott was a hard-working man and worked for Hunt Paving for 35 years, retiring in 2004. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed IU basketball, especially during the Bobby Knight years. He also liked cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. Above all, his family was most important to him. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be missed and fondly remembered.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Gray and Lena Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Wynne, to whom he was united in marriage August 31, 1958; children, Kelly Scott (Trudi) of Winter Haven, FL, Kathy Ellis (William) of Wilbur, and Kristy Hinshaw (Bret) of Monrovia; brother, Bob Scott of Illinois; sisters, Martha Pingleton of Illinois, Lela McLavain of Kentucky, Kay Sloan and Sue Jerashen, both of Illinois; grandchildren, B.J. Ellis (Katy), Chad Clark (Anita), Patrick Ellis (Robin), and Nichole Loveless (Joe); six great grandchildren, Marshall, Audrey, Bailey, Sophia, Georgia, and Jay.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 30, 2014.
