Georgia J. Stephens, 83 of Brooklyn, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at her daughter’s home near Chicago. Georgia was born July 9, 1931 in Arkansas to the late Burt M. and Orpha Irene (Block) Willis. On August 12, 1950 she married her loving husband, Bobbie Roe Stephens; he preceded her in death on May 10, 2012. Georgia graciously served her family as a homemaker, attended Friendswood Baptist Church in Camby and was a 41 year member of the Order of The Eastern Star in Brooklyn.
Survivors include her daughter, Diana Stephens of Aurora, IL; daughter-in-law, Diana (Deuty) Stephens of Indianapolis; one sister, Ruth V. Shane; three grandchildren, Joshua (his wife, Lindsey), Levi and Lexi; two great grandchildren, Mason and Vincent; and several nieces and nephews. Her son, Robert Stephens and her sister, Alberta M. Smith also preceded her in death.
Family and friends will gather for visitation in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16. Entombment will take place privately at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Council of the Blind of Indiana, 5885 N.
