Gertrude M. Wilcher, 89, lifelong Mooresville resident, passed away July 26, 2019. Gertrude was born March 4, 1949, in Mooresville, to the late Arthur and Temptest (Ricketts) Gunnell. She married Raymond O. Wilcher on May 26, 1950, and he preceded her in death on November 20, 2003.
Gertrude graduated from Mooresville High School in 1949. She was employed as an assistant in the library and also worked in the cafeteria at Northwood Elementary School. She later worked for the BMV at the Mooresville License Branch from 1980-89. Gretrude was a longtime member to the Mooresville First Christian Church. She enjoyed working puzzles, crocheting, and watching Western movies. She will be fondly remembered for her gentle and kind nature.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Thomas Gunnell, Charles Gunnell; Geneva Squires, and Edna Mason.
Survivors include one son, Mark (Annette) Wilcher of Indianapolis; brother, Richard Gunnell of Mooresville; sisters, Joann Deppert of North Dakota and Thelma Lesch of California; two grandchildren, Zachery and Zora Wilcher.
Friends and family will gather on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, 12 Noon until 2 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Rev. Glenda Survance will officiate the service that will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery.
