Due to illness in the family, the funeral service has been rescheduled for Friday at 12 P.M., at the funeral home.
Glenn Austin Mendenhall, 88, Camby, died January 21, 2013. Mr. Mendenhall was born July 29, 1924, in Camby, to the late Ray David and Bertha Mae (Johnson) Mendenhall.
He was a graduate of Decatur Central High School. Mr. Mendenhall was a self-employed farmer and also worked as a heavy machine operator for Grady Brothers. In addition, he was a plant supervisor for Dalton Asphalt and also an engineer for the Marion County Parks Department. He was a member of The Church at Mt. Gilead and had served on the West Newton Cemetery Board of Directors for many years. Mr. Mendenhall also served two terms as the Decatur Township Trustee. He enjoyed gardening, horseshoes, and woodworking. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends.
Mr. Mendenhall was preceded in death by his son, Edward Ray Mendenhall; his sister, Faye Mowery; a grandson, Edward Austin Mendenhall.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Margaret (Smith) Mendenhall; daughters, Nancy Belcher of Martinsville, Bonny Morales of Camby, Beverly Wray of Mooresville, and Glenna Reed of Camby; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
Rev. Terry Crist will officiate the 12 p.m. funeral service on Friday, January 25, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery.
