Glenn D. Blackwell, 71, of Mooresville, died peacefully at home on June 26, 2013, after a courageous three year battle with cancer. He was born November 14, 1941, in Indianapolis, to the late Chris and Mary (Riley) Blackwell.
Glenn graduated from Monrovia High School in 1960 and attended Butler University. Glenn was the owner of Blackwell Agency Insurance Taxes & Accounting in Mooresville and had been practicing on his own since 1974. He took great pride in helping his clients with their financial needs and was also known for his contagious laugh. Glenn enjoyed his yearly guys fishing trip to Canada and last year was blessed to take his family on an Alaskan cruise. Most of all, he was a God loving and faithful member of The Church at Mt. Gilead, Mooresville. A caring husband, father, and grandfather, whose hobbies included fishing, golfing, and mushroom hunting. Glenn’s strong willed nature gave him an extra three years to cherish and enjoy his life on earth with his loving family and friends before he boarded the bus to heaven on Wednesday morning.
Survivors include his wife Margaret (Devore) Blackwell, to whom he was united in marriage on April 10, 1964; daughters, Beth Blackwell of Plainfield and Angie Blackwell of Mooresville; grandson, Isaac Blackwell; brother, Mike Jackson (Marlene) of Mooresville; sisters, Sandra “Arlene” Chitwood of Mooresville and Christina Culbertson (Jerry) of Florida; many nieces and nephews.
