Harold Raymond Degenhart
71, of Camby, passed away suddenly October 2, 2017. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois to the late Doris (Mitchell) Degenhart and Austin Degenhart.
Harold lived in Indianapolis most of his life with a stint in Florida and Tennessee, moving back to Indianapolis to be near family. Harold was a Vietnam War veteran with a Purple Heart. He worked at Amtrak for 16 years. He was funny, a little crazy and a warm loving family man who was loved by so many. He cherished his friends and was true blue to them. He loved poker, pull tabs, NASCAR and missed his boating days on the water in Florida and Tennessee. He fought and won a 2 ½ year battle with leukemia.
Harold is survived by his loving wife Karen Sue Degenhart, daughters and sons Cheryl (Mark) Johnson, Ronda (Chad) Donald, Debra (Lonnie) Barnes, Barry (Randi) Barnes, Ken (Susan) Barnes, Tammie (Rudy) Schroder, Amanda (Mike) McGillem, sisters; Natalie (Bob) Florencig, Carolyn (Terry) Scott, Dorothy (Carol) Merritt, brother; Austin (Sue) Degenhart, grandchildren; Trevor, Taylor, Hope, Claire, and many, many more which would take up another whole page. He was preceded in death by sons; Gary Degenhart and Harold Degenhart Jr.
A Time of Celebration of Harold’s Life will be held Friday Oct.6th at the Mooresville VFW #1111, 411 S. Indiana St., Mooresville from 3-7pm, with military honor guard at 5pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Harold’s memory to the VFW#1111 or to the American Heart Association.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
