Hazel "Liz" Whitney

Mooresville

Hazel "Liz" Whitney, 85, Mooresville, passed away in the early morning hours on October 18, 2024.  Mrs. Whitney was born December 22, 1938, in Otwell, Indiana, to the late James E. and Myrtle (Schnarr) Haycox.  She married Ishmael Whitney on January 9, 1960, and he survives. 

Mrs. Whitney graduated from Ireland (Indiana) High School.  Mrs. Whitney worked as a bookkeeper for Indiana Bank & Trust in Martinsville for 13 years and also enjoyed working in the cafeteria for the Mooresville School System for 7 years.   She and Ishmael enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states.  She was especially fond of the western states and always enjoyed time spent in Panama City Beach.  A young 85-year-old, she stayed active by walking at Pioneer Park and never was one to be intimidated by technology.  Above all, Mrs. Whitney was strongly devoted to her family.  Her life was even more complete when grandchildren and great-grandchildren arrived on the scene.  Her loving family will always cherish her thoughtful and generous nature.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, George Haycox, James Haycox, Marie Kamplain, and Ethel Mae Raney; and a grandson, Brandon Adams.  

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Ishmael Whitney; daughters, Theresa (Mark) Ferguson and Pam (Stu) Johnson; sister, Annabelle Hedrick; grandchildren, Mackenzi Johnson, Carleigh (Jon) Stroup, and Cassondra (Andrew) Aiello; great-grandchildren, Avery, Ryker, and Ashton.  

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Cremation will take place at the onsite crematory at Carlisle - Branson, and inurnment will be held later in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
