Hazel M. Helphinstine, 78, Mooresville, died August 13, 2013. Mrs. Helphinstine was born December 21, 1934, in Logan, West Virginia, to the late Samuel Paul and Rosa Etta (Jacobs) Baker.
She graduate from Logan High School in 1954 and had been employed at the G.C. Murphy store in Logan. After moving to Mooresville, Mrs. Helphinstine worked for Automotive Armature. She was an avid bowler and member of the USBC. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, and camping with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry I. Helphinstine; brothers, Eddie, James, and Jack Baker; sisters, Dorothy Evelyn Meade and Rosa Pauline Tomlin.
Survivors include her children, Karyn Lawrence and her husband Dale of Mooresville and Jerry “Cowboy” Helphinstine, II and his wife Gloria of Mooresville; brother, Homer Baker of Logan, West Virginia; sister, Joan Boyd of North Carolina; grandchildren, Joshua and Jesse Lawrence; Kayla Schmidt.
Local visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013, 4 to 8 p.m., in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013, 6 to 8 p.m., in Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Sunday at Hutton Funeral Home, with burial following in Hillsboro Cemetery.
