Helen Catherine Whittington

Helen Catherine Whittington, 90, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully February 1, 2019. She was born December 12, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Lee and Marjorie (Atwood) Van Jelgerhuis.

Helen was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, watching birds traveling, cooking, and drinking coffee. Mrs. Whittington ran a childcare for many years because she loved taking care of children. Her nickname with the children was Mam Mam. Helen would have Friday night family suppers. Helens loving nature will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Whittington; siblings, Daniel Van Jelgerhuis, William Van Jelgerhuis, Lee Van Jelgerhuis, Rose Mary Normingtion.

Left to charish her memory are her daughters, Cathy (Mike) Mosier and Caryn (Gary) Gilliam; 2 grandchildren, and 3 greatgrandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday April 20, 2019 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church.
