Herman Fredie “Fred” Williams, 88, of Mooresville, died on Friday, January 3, 2025 at his son’s home in Franklin, Tennessee. Fred, as nearly all knew him, was born on December 18, 1936 in Columbus, Kentucky to the late William Paul Williams and Elsie Genevia (Dodson) Wiliams.
He graduated from Manual High School in Indianapolis. Fred was a retired General Motors millwright where he worked for thirty-one years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 23 and served as the Sergeant at Arms for the retiree chapter. After retiring, he did some real estate investments with his sons building several projects. Truthfully, Fred enjoyed working and possessed an incredible work ethic throughout his life.
He met Lillian Maxine Ricks while roller skating in Indianapolis. They later married and enjoyed over sixty-six years of marriage before her passing on January 20, 2022. The couple spent several winters in Florida escaping the cold Indiana winters. They were blessed with three sons and then seven grandchildren.
Fred will be missed by his family and friends including his sons, Fred Williams Jr. (wife, Judy) of Mooresville and John Paul Williams (wife, Jennifer) of Franklin, Tennessee; brother, Joe Rex Williams (wife, Sissy) of Mooresville; and grandchildren, Gabriel, Nathan, Alexandria, Brittney, Ashley, Robbie, and Haley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsie; wife, Maxine Williams; son, James Donald Williams; and brother, Paul Thomas Williams.
