Some of those included selling Avon, sewing numbers on jerseys for a Tri-County Sports, a sporting goods store and making draperies for a furniture company. Her most recent employment was with Kendrick Memorial Hospital, which is now Franciscan Health, first as a receptionist and later transitioning into insurance processing and billing. She retired from there in the early 1990’s. Following retirement, Joann and Charles continued to live in Mooresville. They were married for over 63 years, when Charles passed away on July 20, 2014. In 2016, Joann entered an assisted living facility in Mooresville, where she lived until moving to Bismarck, ND in 2017 to be closer to family.
Charles and Joann were lifelong members of the Mooresville First Christian Church. In 2013, Charles and Joann were presented with the Grandma Bucker Award in recognition of their fervent devotion to the church community.
