Jack E. Smith, age 82, of Mooresville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Born January 23, 1932, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Giesking) Smith. His children, Terry, Jack & Jackie; his brothers, Robert and Bill Smith; along with his sisters, Lavern Nibarger, Mary Meisenheimer, and Betty Imhausen also preceded him in death.
Jack retired from the Maintenance Department at IUPUI after 19 years. He previously worked at Hygrades as a butcher for 19 years. He loved to fish, deer hunt and camp, but especially loved his 27 “great grandbabies”.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Patsy (McQueen) Smith; his sons: Bill (Sherry) Smith, Kevin (Kathy) Smith; his brothers: Joseph Smith, John (Margot) Smith; Jerry (Vivian) Smith; Tom (Patty) Smith; his sisters: Martha Daugherty; Judy (Jim) Lowery; his nine grandchildren: Jackie Smith, Heather (Brandon) Anthony, Terry (Kierstin) Smith, Amy Bailey, Aaron (Michelle) Welch, Ashley Welch, Derek (Melissa) Willey, Nathan (Jessica) Willey, Heather (Nick) Behymer; his 27 great grandchildren; his daughter in law, Beth (Pat) Welch; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with burial at Mooresville Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, May 12, 2014 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. You may visit www.carlisebranson.com where you may share a memory with the family or sign the guest book.
