Jack Hobdy, 71 of Martinsville, passed away September 15, 2015 in the comfort of his own home. Jack was born July 31, 1944 in Portland, TN to Charlie and Viola (Ray) Hobdy; his parents preceded him in death. On February 29, 1984 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary and she survives.
A hard worker, Jack was employed in Skill Trades at General Motors for 30 years; he retired in 2006. As an entrepreneur, he worked independently as a heavy equipment operator and a truck driver. Jack was honored to be a long time member of the Mooresville Lodge #78 F.&A.M. He was an Army veteran during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hobdy of Martinsville; two daughters, Melissa Lynn Sherrick (Husband: Ron) of Troy, Ohio and Kimberly Lamb (Husband: Mark) of Franklin, TN; sister, Norma Reed of Arkansas; half-brother, Ira Hobdy of Indianapolis and three grandchildren, Katie and Jared Sherrick and Maddox Lamb.
Family and friends will gather for visitation in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville on Friday, September 18 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Masonic service will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Mooresville Lodge #78 Memorial Fund; envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
