James Arthur “Art” Terry, 78, Camby, died June 21, 2013, in Reid Memorial Hospital, Richmond. Mr. Terry was born June 2, 1935, in Oneida, Tennessee, to the late Miles and Dorothy Terry.
He graduated from Oneida High School and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. Mr. Terry worked for High-Grade Meat Packing, Chevrolet and for Tri-Ax Trucking. He also was the owner and operator of Terry’s One Stop in Camby for a period of time. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Terry enjoyed gardening and all kinds of racing. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Terry; sister, Ruthie Terry; son-in-law, Wayne Terry.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Mae (Blevins) Terry; children, Cheryl Terry of Plainfield, Patty Ashley (Bruce) of Mooresville, Alan Terry (Debbie) of Mooresville, and Jimmy Terry of Camby; brothers, Tony Terry and Robbie Terry (Teresa), both of Tennessee; sisters, Wanda Stanley (Jim) of Plainfield, Bertha Lou Lay (Amon) of Tennessee, Joyce Watson (John) of Tennessee, and Sharon Cordell of Jeffersonville; grandchildren, Mike, Teresa, Shelby, Chelsea, and Cody; great grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Ashley, and Mike Jr.; great great grandchildren, Mariah, Calvary, and William.
The memorial service will begin at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 5 p.m. Cremation will take place at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville.
