James D. Butler, 77, Brooklyn, died January 5, 2013, in St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Butler was born January 25, 1935, in Indianapolis, to the late George and Mae (Black) Butler.
He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. Butler was employed at Readymix and later for Nice-Pak. He was a member of the Murat Shrine, Scottish Rite, and the VFW Post 1111. Mr. Butler was an avid Colts fan and also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue (Johnson) Butler; a daughter, Kelly Jo Butler; brother, Bobby Butler.
Survivors include his sons, Michael A. Brooks (Rebecca) of Brownsburg and Patrick D. Brooks of Indianapolis; sisters, Cheryl Cheek and Connie Hardwick; grandchildren, Christy Powell, Stephanie Brooks, Noah Berry, and Brittany Walker; great grandchildren, Kingston Berry, Joel Berry, Kalynn Newlin, Michael and Matthew Powell; son-in-law, David Walker.
The memorial service will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013, in the Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow in St. Malachy Cemetery, Brownsburg.
