James Earl Rippy

James Earl Rippy, Sr., 85, of Indianapolis, died May 1, 2013. He was born March 9, 1928, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Ernest Vernon and Emma Pauline (Gant) Rippy.

Jim worked in the painting and building industry for nearly 30 years. He began working with Klein & Kuhn in 1963 and retired from the City County Building in 1993. Mr. Rippy proudly built his entire home. He enjoyed watching western movies and fishing. He will be dearly missed by all of his loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his, son, James Earl Rippy, Jr.; daughter, Bonnie Marlene West; infant brother, Donald Rippy; sister, Marie Fleming.

Survivors include his loving wife, Janet Roseland (Blackburn) Rippy, to whom he was united in marriage on August 31, 1946; daughters, Reene Rippy of Indianapolis and Luvina Catellier of Camby; brother, Raymond Rippy of Indianapolis; sister, Norma Trisler of Mooresville; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 5p.m., Friday, May 17, 2013, in the Drexel Gardens Christian Church, 2200 Beulah Ave., Indianapolis. Inurnment will be in the West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice or the church Visit www.carlislebranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.
