James H. Hahn, 90, of Mooresville, passed away January 15, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis on January 15, 1927 to the late Harold and Ruby (Winsor) Hahn. In December of 1946 Jim was united in marriage to his loving wife, Jo Ann (Poffenberger) Hahn and she preceded him in death in 2002.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army as military police during World War II. He worked as an inspector for the United States Postal Service for 37 years and spent 20 years working for the United States Government in law enforcement. He enjoyed all sports including bowling and played in minor league baseball. A real jokester, Jim’s sense of humor and loving demeanor will be forever cherished by his loving family and friends.
Along with his wife, Jim was also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Rairigh.
Survivors include his two daughters; Patti Ann (Will) Gasper of Leroy, Michigan and Carollyn (James) Smith of Mooresville; son-in-law, Glen Rairigh; nine grandchildren; Tori, Delia, Jason, Luke, Marcie, Coriann, Jamie, Nicole, and Crystal; 16 great grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews, Jeanne Owens, Debbie Irwin, Mel Hoffman, and Kimberly Schubert.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Jim Hahn from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the funeral home. Additional calling will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis with full military honors.
