James D. Harper, 79, Spencer, formerly of Monrovia, passed away on February 23, 2024. Jim was born on August 22, 1944, in Martinsville, to the late Clyde Harper and Opal Marie (Fisher) Lewellen.
He attended Monrovia High School and was the owner and operator of Harper Valley Trash/Refuse Service for many years. A hard-working man, Jim also hauled gravel, raised livestock, and farmed through the years to help provide for his family. Jim was an easygoing man who never turned down an opportunity to eat out, typically favoring the local mom-and-pop diners where he was known for giving the waitresses a hard time. Jim will be fondly remembered by his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his sons, Ruth Harper and his second wife, Anna Harper.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Harper; sons, Tom (Bonnie) Harper of Monrovia and Richard Harper; sister, Patricia (Gary) Nicholson; two grandchildren, Mason (Hannah) Haper and Matthew Harper; one great grandson, Weston Harper.
