James L. Prather, 79, Mooresville, passed away in his residence at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2016. Mr. Prather was born in Stinesville, Indiana to the late Duard Prather and Pearl Botkin.
As a 1955 graduate of Stinesville High School, he played basketball, softball, and ran track as a student. He enjoyed a 47-year career as a truck driver. He worked for the stone quarries in Bloomington early on and later for 34 years for Yellow Freight. Never one to sit still, J.L. worked during his retirement years for the Mooresville Parks & Recreation. He enjoyed NASCAR, but his favorite pastime was cheering on his grandchildren at their various sporting events. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Corbin) Prather; one brother, Robert Prather.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Aders (Stan) of Indianapolis; sons, Richard Prather (Rachel) of Mooresville and Eric Phillips (Richelle) of Spencer; grandchildren, Nikki, Chelsey, Jody, and Breanna; Kyle and Logan; Sarah and Jennifer; great grandchildren, Damian, Lexy, Lilly, Piper, and Hunter.
Friends and family will gather on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel at
Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, 11 a.m. in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Gosport.
