James L. “Jim” Remster, 77, passed away peacefully at home, Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. Jim was born August 4, 1935, in Mooresville, to the late Homer and Beatrix (Murphy) Remster.
Jim spent his life in and around the Mooresville area and was a well-known Block and Brick Layer. Later in life, he was a partner with his brother, Wayne, doing carpenter work. While he was in the union, he did brick and block work on several schools and other buildings in Mooresville, Indianapolis, Plainfield, and Martinsville. Jim was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and enjoyed being a Little League coach at North Madison through the years. He enjoyed being outdoors and spent time at garage sales and cutting grass. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Julia, to whom he was united in marriage May 25, 1981; sons, Rick Remster, Scott Remster, Troy Remster, and Danny (Sharon) White; daughter, Lisa (Steve) McDonald; brother, Henry “Bud” Remster; sister, Dorothy Calhoun; grandsons, Troy (Nicole) Remster, Dustin (Jennifer) White and Derek (Lexy) White; granddaughters, Jennifer Remster, Cori Jackson, Jessi Gosnell, and Tyjana Swineford; step-son, John May; step-daughters, Janet Barley, Joy Bowen, Jill Haddock, and Judi Gibson; ten step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; two step great great grandchild.
Friends and family will gather on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 4 to 8 p.m., in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013, in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peoples First Hospice.
