James Ray Carver

September 1, 1944 — March 25, 2017

James Ray Carver, 72, of Mooresville, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Meadow Lakes of Mooresville. Born September 1, 1944 in Indianapolis, Jim was the son of Virgil D. and Florence M. (Alkern) Carver; his parents preceded him in death.

Jim enjoyed working in construction and as a tool shop operator in Alabama at plant that manufactures homes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football and NASCAR, drag racing and most all, golfing. A loving father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, Jim will be missed by his loving family and a host of friends.

Along with his parents, Jim is also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Carver.

Survivors include his son, James Carver (Tammy), Jr. of Trafalger; four daughters, Bridgetta Sisk of Mooresville, Beverly (Jay) Grimes of Morgantown, Sharon (Brian) Metcalf of Lebanon, and Lorene (Tony) Black of Indianapolis; one sister, Artie L. Lewis of Georgia; his grandchildren, David, Joshua, Brian, Ashley, Timmy, Tabitha, Amy, Amanda, Megan, Brianne, Bella, Shane, Britney, Amber, Heather, Brian, Tesla, and Cassidy; and 23 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for James Ray Carver will be held privately and at a later date. Final care and cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Moorevsille.
