James “White Owl” Pruitt, 80, Camby, passed away peacefully at his home on June 19, 2024. He was born November 19, 1943, in Burkesville, Kentucky, to the late Andy Burr and Willie (Jones) Pruitt.
After the family moved to Indiana, White Owl took a job with Citizens Gas as a lineman. He continued his empowerment with the gas company for 35 years, retiring as a field coordinator. An avid outdoorsman, White Owl was happiest when hunting or fishing. He loved fishing at Dale Hollow and Patoka the most but was content wherever they were biting. He enjoyed racing stock cars in his earlier years, and for that matter, enjoyed anything that went fast. If you were a friend of White Owl’s, you were a friend for life. A man of routine, you could always find him having breakfast at Morgan’s with his cronies. He will be fondly remembered for his loyalty to his family and his many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold, and Richard Pruitt.
Survivors include one son, Dwayne (Lori) Pruitt of Mooresville; siblings, Ruby Key of Burkesville, Kentucky, Elmer Glenn “Buddy” Pruitt of Indianapolis, Paul (Debra) Pruitt of Mooresville, and Vickie Pruitt of Burkesville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Luke James Pruitt and Kelsey Lynn (Ryan) Wells; one great-grandchild, Wrenley Wells.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High Street, Mooresville. Cremation will take place at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
