Jeannette Thomas Shere, 64, of Bloomington, passed away August 7, 2021, at Columbus Regional Health. Jeannette was born December 21, 1956, in Greencastle, Indiana to Robert Thomas and Shelba (Easton) Lambert.
Jeannette was a strong minded and strong willed woman. She never let anything get in her way of accomplishing everything. Jeannie battled epilepsy her entire life and beat the odds because she never would let it interfere with living a normal life. She lived 19 years longer than the doctors ever expected.
Jeannette graduated from Mooresville High School in 1975 and continued her education at Indiana University. She was a Governor’s Academy of Public Policy graduate with a Bachelor’s of General Studies and a Master’s of Science of Public Heath Education. She was very active in NAMI board of directors, Epilepsy Foundation, COVOH Foundation, SICIL, AARP, Michael J. Fox Foundation, Human Rights Foundation, Centerston Recovery House, Listening Line, Life Skills Counseling, Volunteers IN Medicine, Indiana, Governor's Planning Council for People with Disabilities, Abilities Unlimited, Speeches, Newspaper Interviews, Addressed Public Issues in Newpater Columns, and Radio Talk Show Guest addressing health. The many differing types of work Jeannette dedicated her life in volunteering with the intent of assisting people with severe, if not terminal, medical disorders, and disabilities; situations often ignored and prevalent to false assumptions and myths from many years ago. She worked her life teaching and educating people on treating the “different” with the same equal rights as everyone else. Her education helped many lives in public and environmental health code in treatment facilities as well as public housing.
Jeannie enjoyed music, dancing, bargain shopping, writing, movies, arts, and helping others. She loved all her family dearly. Jeannie is going to be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Joe Loesch; father, Robert Thomas and Harold Lambert; and sister, Carrie Fort.
Survivors include her mother, Shelba Lambert; siblings, Jason (Nicole) Lambert, John Michael (Teresa) Thomas, Harold (Sharon) Lambert, and Sandra (Larry) Kellams; and many nieces and nephews.
