Jim L. Shepherd
84, of Camby, passed away on January 21, 2020 at St Francis Hospital in Mooresville after a short illness. Jim was born on September 12, 1935 in Lebanon, IN to the late Roy B. Shepherd and Thelma L. (Prader) Shepherd.
Jim was raised in Lebanon and was a graduate of Lebanon High School. After high school Jim attended Purdue University. Jim had a zest for life and adventure as he left Purdue to move to Alaska with some college friends to work in the fishing industry. He returned home to Indiana to start his family and career as a skilled tradesman for General Motors, retiring in 1996.
Jim was mechanically inclined. He could look at something and come up with a design of his own and build it. He enjoyed spending time boating on Kentucky Lake and fishing trips with his old college buddies. He also liked woodworking, flower and vegetable gardening. His favorite time was having his family and friends over for cookouts in the backyard by the pond that he built. His family and friends will remember him best for his humor, creativity, his talent for grilling, his mechanical abilities and his love of gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Brenda.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Fran (Dalton) Shepherd; his children Cheryl Dunbar, Roy Wayne Shepherd, Michele Pellicone, Natalie Needam, Regina Minor; his step children Debbie Shirar, Tina Pierce, Dan Spencer, Marshall Spencer; his brother; Larry Shepherd; his sister Linda Clark and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Jim’s life will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28th from 11am-1pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with funeral services beginning at 1pm in the funeral home, with Rev. Ken Wagener officiating. Burial will follow the services in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville
