Joel T. Moore

Joel T. Moore, 73, Mooresville, passed away January 13, 2018. Joel was born July 23, 1944, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Joel Columbus and Maelene Thomas (Huff) Moore.

He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1960 and attended Purdue University. Joel worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years, retiring for the Mooresville Post Office in 2007. He previously worked in automobile and insurance sales.

Joel was an active member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and was a church bus driver for many years. He also attended Redemption Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Florida, where he and his wife, Annette, wintered for five years. He was a member of the Paragon Lions Club and served as past president of the Indiana Deer Hunters’ Association. Many years ago he was a vice precinct committeeman in Wayne Township and was also active in the PTA in Wayne Township when his children were in school there. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Joel never met a stranger, and his presence was always felt in a room. His positive and outgoing personality will be fondly remembered by a loving family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David W. Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Moore; children, Joel Timothy (Jill) Moore, Julie Moore (Michael) Prophet, Christina Fitch, Patricia Morris, and Michelle (Dennis) Bailey; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather on Thursday, January 18, 2018, 3 to 8 p.m. in Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1150 State Rd. 144, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at the church.
