John Anderson White, 72, of Plainfield, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital. Born in Indianapolis on November 3, 1944, John was the son of the late Joseph Raymond and Carolyn Leorah (Anderson) White. On July 2, 2005 he was united in marriage to the love of his life and life partner of 32 years, Kathy (Edie) White and she survives.
John was a graduate of Mooresville High School; he earned his bachelor’s degree from IUPUI and later, while working full-time, earned a master’s degree in psychology from Indiana University. He worked at the Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors for over 30 years, where he served as a zone 8 committeeman for the United Auto Workers Local Union #933; John was proud of his work on the World Transmission Project at GM. Following his retirement, John worked at the Indiana Boys School and at the Reception Diagnostic Center (RDC) in Plainfield. He was a member of Mooresville Friends Church. John proudly served his country in the United States Army as military police during the Vietnam War; he was discharged in 1971.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy; his sister, Susan J. (Phil) White Felix of Plainfield; brother-in-law, Bill (Kathy) Edie of Plainfield; three nieces, Catherine Jo (Fred) Wagner of Mooresville, Jill R. (Corey) Hardin of Plainfield, and Krista K. (Chris) Schindler of Plainfield; two nephews, Douglas S. (Sharon) Kitchen of Mooresville, and Kyle M. (Sarah) Edie of Brownsburg; six great nieces and nephews, Fred Wagner III, Jake Kitchen, Mallory and Caroline Edie, Olivia Hardin, and Delaney Schindler; and his fur baby, Sadie.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of John Anderson White from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 in the chapel at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
