John Harrison Hansel, 76, of Mooresville, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at his home with his family at his side. He was born in Mount Vernon, Kentucky to the late Samuel Golden Hansel and Mary Elizabeth (Payne) Hansel on June 16, 1948.
He married the love of his life, Darlena Kay Sanders, on February 14, 1966. They have enjoyed over fifty-eight years of marriage and together grew a large family. Through his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, John’s legacy will live on indefinitely. A proud believer in Jesus Christ, he was a member of the Harvest House International Church in Mooresville. He was previously a member of the former New Hope Church in Mooresville.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends including his wife, Darlena Hansel of Mooresville; sons, Norman (Rita) Hansel of Superior, Wisconsin, Johnny (Angie) Hansel of Mooresville, and Sam Hansel of Mooresville; daughters, Angela Kay Doyle of Greenfield; brother, Floyd (Linda) Hansel of London, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jessica (Bobby), Andrew (Brittany), Shannon, Joseph (Jordyn), Jacob, Joshua, Nathaniel, and Matthew; and great grandchildren, Makaila, Serenity, Bryce, Bentley, Reagan, Gavin, Tristan, Paisley, Beth, and Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Samuel and Mary Hansel; brothers, Benjamin “Bud” Hansel, Alonzo “Squeak” Hansel, James Hansel, and Billy Hansel; and sisters, Nancy Eggers, Brenda Hansel, and Martha Hansel.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, February 4th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Harvest House International Church, 10089 N. Kitchen Road, Mooresville. A service celebrating John’s life will begin at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 5th at the church with an hour of visiting prior to the service. Following the service, his earthly remains will be cremated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.
