John Neal Bagley, 85, longtime Mooresville resident, died March 26, 2012. Mr. Bagley was born March 21, 1927, in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Harry and Hazel (Neal) Bagley.
He graduated from Central High School in Muncie in 1944 and attended Ball State University. Mr. Bagley proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he earned a commercial pilot’s license. He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for a number of years, retiring in 1985. Prior to, Mr. Bagley worked at Durham Plant in the ammunition department, Warner-Gear in transmissions, as a brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad, a driver for Trailway Bus Lines, and also was a route owner for Dolly Madison. He worked early on as a salesman for the Fuller Brush Company. Mr. Bagley was a member of the UAW, life member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a longtime member of The Church at Mount Gilead, Mooresville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Bagley, who was from Campbellsburg and Orleans; brothers, Robert Lee and Carl Edward Bagley; sister, Zella Mae Heller.
Survivors include his sons, Stephen E. Bagley (Mary) of Bonita Springs, Florida, John “Michael” Bagley (Deborah) of Martinsville, and James T. Bagley (Deborah) of Mason, Ohio; daughters, Marjorie K. Courtney (Art) of Southport, Deborah E. Nichols (Roger) of Greenwood, Cynthia J. Sager (Charles) of North Monmouth, Maine, and Karen A. Runiyon (Greg) of Danville; nineteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012. Rev. Terry Crist will officiate. The committal service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans.
