John S. Walker, 68, Mooresville, died peacefully at home on January 29, 2012. Mr. Walker was born August 4, 1943, in Indianapolis, to the late Howard W. and Sarah Virginia (DeBusk) Walker.
John graduated from Decatur Central High School and was a long time pilot. He worked for Midway Airlines and later for various corporations. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Avon and AOPA, Airline Owners and Pilots Association. With an adventurous spirit, he enjoyed all things related to flying and also enjoyed nature.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Kay Walker, to whom he was united in marriage August 19, 1978; son, John David Walker (Dana) of Camby; daughters, Michelle Pierce (Tony) of Martinsville, Kristie Sullivan (Bill) of Mooresville, Lisa McKinney (Larry) of Arizona, and Kelly Walker of Martinsville; brothers, Ron Walker (Donna) of Arizona, Dave Walker (Paulette) of Avon, Dalbert Walker (Sharon) of Florida; sister, Debbie Moore (Charlie) of Camby; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, 4 to 8 p.m., at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Pastor Marc Monte will officiate the 10 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, February 2, 2012, in Faith Baptist Church of Avon. Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
