John Stephens
75, of Mooresville, passed away March 1, 2018 at his home. John was born on July 10, 1942 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Harry and Lois (Mullenix) Stephens.
John grew up in New Castle and graduated from New Castle High School. John retired from Allison GM in 1991. He enjoyed working with his hands. He especially enjoyed woodworking and built many pieces of furniture throughout the years. In his earlier years, he was described as adventurous; enjoying fishing, sports cars, boats, jet skis, snow mobiles and motorcycles until an accident forced him to slow down. John continued to enjoy coin collecting and watching NASCAR with his great grandsons. He was also known as a great story teller who loved telling jokes and embellishing stories and telling “his” version. Most of all, he will be remembered as a husband, father and grandfather who was always there for his family whenever they needed him. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Left to cherish his memory, his wife; Sharon (Browning) Stephens, children; Julie (Brian) Justus, Jeff (Amie) Stephens, Jenny (Rob) Thompson, Joe (Kerri) Stephens, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one more on the way.
