John T. Bain, Sr., 85, of Mooresville, passed away the morning of Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. A lifelong resident of Mooresville, John was born November 11, 1931 to the late Horace S. and Mary G. (McCoun) Bain. On November 21, 1949 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Janet C. (Burns) Bain and she survives.
John worked as a machinist at the Allison’s Division of General Motors for 36 years; he retired in 1988 after 36 years. After retirement, he enjoyed working as a car salesman at Weliever Chevrolet in Mooresville for 11 years. John loved buying and selling most everything, but truly enjoyed, and was well known as a horse trader. He also enjoyed running his beagles. A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, great, great grandfather and friend John’s memory will be cherished by his loving family, and a host of friends.
Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his two brothers, James and Jack Bain; and his sister, Anna Lou Ferguson.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Janet; her son, John T. Bain, Jr. (Wife: Karen) of Mooresville; two daughters, Pamela K. Pharis (Husband: Harold B.) of Mooresville, and Brenda A. Stirn (Husband: Stephen A.) of Mooresville; his brother, Charles “Chick” Bain (Wife: Cathy) of Camby; brother-in-law, Damon Ferguson of Greenwood; sister-in-law, Jeannie Bain of Camby; five grandchildren, Dana D. Miles, John C. Bain, Adam J. Bain, Amanda M. Stirn, and Sara E. Schulz; seven great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of John T. Bain, Sr. on Saturday, April 15, 2017 for a 1 P.M. graveside service at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville. No calling hours will be observed. Final care and arrangements were entrusted to the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.
