Joseph E. Wylie

Joseph E. Wylie, 73, Mooresville, died March 6, 2012, in his residence. Mr. Wylie was born February 5, 1939, in Indianapolis, to the late Elmer and Marjorie (Averitt) Wylie.

He attended Washington High School in Indianapolis and proudly served in the United States Navy. Mr. Wylie worked for 39 years for the Allison Division of General Motors, retiring in 2000. He was an active and devoted member of Heritage Christian Church in Mooresville, where he had served as an elder. In addition, Mr. Wylie was an avid golfer and played on the General Motors golf league. He also enjoyed bowling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John Wylie, Daniel Wylie, and Rose Ann Coffee.

Survivors include his wife, Carol (Copsy) Wylie, to whom he was united in marriage May 19, 1961; sons, Jeffrey Wylie of Indianapolis, Phillip Wylie of Camby, and Douglas Wylie (Tabitha) of Indianapolis; daughter, Jill Pruitt (Darrell) of Brooklyn; brother, Paul Wylie of Greenwood; sister, Marcia McCracken of Indianapolis; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren.

The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2012. Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
