Joseph Talmadge Greer, 80, of Noblesville, passed away February 2, 2020 at Hendricks Regional Health. Joseph was born February 15, 1939, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to the late William Arvis and Ruby Jewel Mae (Mott) Greer.
Joseph graduated from Sheridan High School, Sheridan, Indiana in 1957. After High School, He attended Conqueror’s Bible College in Portland, Oregon where he met his former wife, Carolyn Dyess. Together, they pastored a church in Lily, Louisiana and served as the sectional Youth President for the United Pentecostal Church.
Joseph served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. He then went to pastor a church in Junction City, Kansas. Joseph retired as a federal employee with the Department of Finance and Accounting.
Joseph was a talented musician, persuasive speaker, caregiver, and had an award-winning passion for gardening; especially his rose gardens.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by one brother, Willie Arman “Bill” Greer; and two sisters, Peggy Ann Greer and Vera Everie Greer Keever.
Survivors include his son, Joseph Carl Greer Bales and spouse Shannon Lee Manley Bales of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Romildred “Rosie” Greer Pruett of Mooresville, Lureaine “Lou” Greer Stephens and spouse Steve of Crawfordsville; one brother, Gregory Alan Greer of Terre Haute; one granddaughter, Carly Renee Bales (Joshua) Hammers of Groves, Texas; one grandson, Joseph Cyle (Hannah) Bales of Lumberton, Texas; Four great grandchildren, Braelyn Alysse Hammers, Carson Gray Bales, Roman Oliver Hammers, Connor Reese Bales; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
