Mooresville, Indiana – June Shufflebarger, of Moorseville, passed away at her home on March 21, 2023.
June was born to Ross and Dessie (Drabenstot) Zimmerlee in Huntington, IN on June 6, 1930. She was 92 years old.
June graduated from Ball State University with a teaching degree and received her certification in 1952. June was an exceptional seamstress and a particularly phenomenal cook/baker. June was ever mindful of the details, which elevated all she created to a notable level. She shared these passions for creating beautiful garments and pleasing dishes by teaching home economics at Moorseville High School.
June also dedicated many years to Waverly Elementary School, as secretary to the principal. There are many who would agree; she ran the place. Competence, care and efficiency were her trademark. June’s quick wit and dry humour amused all she met; a trait she deftly wielded ‘til the end.
June met her husband of 50 years when she was at Ball State. June was married to Bill Shufflebarger October 16th of 1954. They built a beautiful country home just outside of Waverly, Indiana where they shared many happy years together. Their home was one of hospitality and tranquility, as June and Bill’s dear family and friends can attest. June and Bill farmed and sold produce locally. They were known for producing the sweetest melons and strawberries around!
June is preceded in death by her husband, William Shufflebarger; parents, Ross and Dessie (Drabenstot) Zimmerlee; her sister, JoAnn Golden.
June is survived by her brother, Joseph Zimmerlee (Ann); niece, Sara Eveland (Zimmerlee) and cousin, Erma Mahorney.
