Indianapolis

Kenneth W. “Kenny” Herald, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 12, 2025. He was born in Indianapolis on August 25, 1947, to the late Wendell and Genevieve (Jones) Herald. Kenny attended Southport High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force thereafter. He served his country from 1965 to 1969 and remained in the Reserves before deciding to reenlist after 9/11. Kenny retired from the military in 2009 as Senior Master Sergeant.

Kenny was a truck driver for UPS for 35 years before his retirement. His enjoyment of driving continued into his retirement when he accepted a position driving for Morgan’s Group.

Kenny was a man of service. He was dedicated to several organizations, serving as Potentate of Araba Shriners in Fort Myers, past president of Veterans Car Club, founding member of the Corvette Club, and a member of Cabari, Klassy Cars, Hillbillies, Mandarin, Lehigh Acres Shrine Club, Fort Myers Beach, Southwest Shrine Association, Southwest Corvette Club, Hospital Board at Shriners Children, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Moose, Elks, and Sojorners.

Above all, Kenny was the definition of a family man. He married his wife, Pamela Adkins Herald on June 10, 1967. They enjoyed 15 years together in Fort Myers, Florida before returning home when his health declined.

Kenny was generous, easygoing, and full of wisdom. He was a son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, provider, neighbor, veteran, and friend to all. Kenny will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Kenny is preceded in death by his grandson, Chance Herald; brother, Roger Herald; and sister, Eyvonne Smithey.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Herald of Indianapolis; sons, Kenneth Dale Herald of Chicago and Kristopher Ryan Herald (wife, Sarah Jo Crosley Herald) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Dylan and Londyn Herald; brothers, Dale Herald of Avon and Lynn Herald of Mooresville; along with several extended family members and friends.
