Kenneth “Kenny” Hewitt, 79, of Mooresville, passed away July 9, 2021, at home. Born November 1, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Harold Murray and Agnes Laverne (Boyles) Hewitt. He married the love of his life Sandy Shirley on May 25, 1963.
Kenny graduated from Ben Davis High School. He worked for Eli Lilly’s for 32 years with his last title being a Quality Control Specialist. Kenny enjoyed doing activities in the outdoors such as camping and fishing. He like to watch NASCAR and collect all the NASCAR cars. Another hobby he enjoyed was remote control cars, boats, and especially airplanes. Kenny was a member of the Screaming Eagle RC Club and a trainer, teaching people how to fly RC airplanes. Kenny and Sandy enjoyed spending time together line dancing. They taught classes in line dancing at the V.F.W. and Moose Lodge in Greenwood for over 15 years. Kenny was an avid fisherman and was in Lilly’s Bass Club, Bass Baggers, Bass Snatchers. Kenny was also a member of the Fish & Game Preservation Club of Coal City, which he was acting president. Some other joys in Kenny’s life were bowling and playing guitar. Kenny’s biggest pride in life was his family; he will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Hewitt.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sandy; children, Cheryl (Brett) Fisher and Michael (Maria) Hewitt; grandchildren; Makayla (Chris) Asher; Cody Hewitt, James (Arrianna) Craig, Kyle Hewitt, and Sage Schofield; great grandchildren, Kaylin Schultheis, Madilynn and Jaila Melton, Corbin, Colton, Kinley, Madison, and Lillianna Asher.
Kenny’s Life Celebration® visitation and funeral service will be held at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High St., Mooresville. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 13, 2021, 4 to 8 p.m., with the funeral service on Wednesday, 1 p.m. Pastor Mike Linville will officiate. Burial will be in Washington Park North.
