Kimberly Dawn Smith, 56, Mooresville, passed away peacefully June 24, 2017, in her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Kim was born January 3, 1961, in Seymour, to the late Richard H. Topie and Jerry L. (Staley) Sullivan, who survives.
She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1979. Kim earned her realtor’s license, but later worked in IT for the Monroe/Gregg School System for 16 years. She loved the outdoors – camping, fishing, and boating. She also liked to sew, crochet, and knit. Kim was a proud member of the NRA. She also enjoyed birdwatching and was especially fond of bluebirds and hummingbirds. Above all, Kim was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be fondly remembered by her loving family and many friends.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Smith, to whom she was united in marriage June 5, 1982; daughters, Kristy Smith of Greenwood and Tracey Durchholz of Evansville; mother, Jerry Sullivan of Hawaii; brother, Richard Topie (Lisa) of Mooresville, Joel Topie (Joan) of North Carolina, and David Topie (Beth) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Raigen, Hunter, and Isaac; mother-in-law, Phyllis Smith of Mooresville.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Kimberly Dawn Smith on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, 4 to 8 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Pastor Jeff Newton will officiate the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, June 29, 2017, in the funeral home. Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery.
